Hi all,
In the Eastern Orthodox Church, there is a tradition, at least through St. Gregory the Great of Rome, a saint in the EO Church and the Roman Catholics (not in the OO Church) who in sending a letter to Chalcedonian Pope Eulogius of Alexandria, telling him that Rome, Alexandria, and Antioch are all "one see of St. Peter." It is believed that St. Mark was ordained and sent by St. Peter to Egypt according to Romans and some EO's.
What is the pre-Chalcedonian view of this? Have any Church fathers ever shared this idea that the Alexandrian see is an indirect see of St. Peter through St. Mark the Evangelist?
Thank you.
