Hi Everyone:

I found this neat survey or quiz, which helps you learn more about our Early Church Fathers.

I took the survey, and it said I’m St. Melito of Sardis. Even when I tried changing some of my answers, I still got, “You are St. Melito of Sardis!” I thought that was kind of funny. Finally, I changed all of my answers to get a different Church Father. I just wanted to read the information about the other Church Fathers. It also provides you with a link to a book written by the Church Father you happen to be.

I think it’s a nice way to learn about our Early Church Fathers.

Below are the results the survey gave me about St. Melito of Sardis.

You are St. Melito of Sardis!

You have a great love of history and liturgy. You’re attached to the traditions of the ancients, yet you recognize that the old world — great as it was — is passing away. You are loyal to the customs of your family, though you do not hesitate to call family members to account for their sins.

Check out 'On Pascha: With the Fragments of Melito and Other Material Related to the Quartodecimans' for more information on St. Melito of Sardis.

Enjoy the survey!

Take care and God Bless.

It says I'm Origen!

http://www.fathersofthechurch.com/quiz/origen/

You do nothing by half-measures. If you’re going to read the Bible, you want to read it in the original languages. If you’re going to teach, you’re going to reach as many souls as possible, through a proliferation of lectures and books. If you’re a guy and you’re going to fight for purity … well, you’d better hide the kitchen shears.

I don't like the sound of the emasculation reference at the end. Embarassed

I got Origen too! Funny thing is I actually really like Origen, even though I know he was quite..."off" sometimes...

God Bless Smile

hehe Very nice quiz! Very interesting!

I got St. Jerome... and I didn't know much about him except that Jerry Seinfelds' real name is Jerome hehe

You are St. Jerome!
You’re a passionate Christian, fiercely devoted to Jesus Christ and his Church. You are willing to labor long hours in the Lord’s vineyard, and you have little patience with those who are less willing or able to work as you do. Your passions often carry you into temptation zones of wrath, lust, and pride.

I'm not a fan of the last question - it knocks Augustine and Ambrose.

I did not like it. The last question derogates Sts. Augustine and Ambrose.

That's fine Truth.Seeker. You are entitled to your own opinion. You can like or dislike whatever you want. I just thought it was a nice way to learn about our Early Church Fathers.

Not everything I post will be perfect. I am far from being perfect. Some may like it, while others may not, which is perfectly fine. I cannot please everyone, and I'm okay with that. Smile

I just wanted to share it with others.

Thanks for contributing.

Take care and God Bless.

I did not criticize you for posting this. However, right after a post where I clearly criticized the website, you said "Im glad you all liked it". That is obviously erroneous.

You're right, Truth.Seeker. I am sorry. Please forgive me. I should have written, "I'm glad some of you liked it."

I honestly didn't mean to ignore your comment or leave you out of the discussion, Truth.Seeker. Once again, I’m sorry. This goes to show how imperfect I am. Smile

You know, I was thinking. Some of the members here, including you, Truth.Seeker, are very knowledgeable when it comes to Patristics. Why don’t all of you work together to come up with a similar survey or quiz with revised questions and answers? You all would be doing this as a service to a lot of us who aren’t that knowledgeable about our Early Church Fathers.

I liked this survey because it was engaging, easy to read and interesting. Wouldn’t it be nice if all of you put something together for your brothers and sisters? In my opinion, this would actually be a nice project for all of you to work on.

Thanks again for contributing.

Take care and God Bless.
