Hey tony,
Yes, liturgies can be preformed anywhere, with the important factor of whether this place is suitable for the body of christ. That is important. So i'm only stating the obvious here, in a dance hall would not be the best place to pray a liturgy. However, it is alright in homes. Many of the ancient saints had masses at their homes. Also, during the time of the house arrest of the pope and the imprisonment of the many priests, my parish priest prayed a mass in a jail cell, using the solitary confinement room as the bosom of the father. So yes it is allowed.
As for the baptism, that i am not too sure about as the baptistry is consecrated. So is the altar but the altar has a holy board which can be used to make it portable. Under extreme cases, baptisms may be done else where. Recalling the story of Saint Marina who baptized herself in a cauldron of boiling water which was to torture her.
However, what i think you may have seen is the "tisht" or bathing ceremony which is not part of the church cannon, although commonly done in the houses. It involves a shoria, and abouna and a tub of water, and some kinds of oils. So you may have gotten that mixed up. Other than that, i'm not too sure about the baptism. Check out [http://www.copticchurch.net/topics/thecopticchurch/sacraments/1_baptism.htm] to get more understandin of baptism. It actualy has some realllly cool stuff that i never knew about.
