i am confused of the answer and would like clearance . i hear in lectures and sermons that it is impossible to love god without knowing his attributes and history ( old and new testament etc.. ) and without knowledge . but there are examples in the bible such as with the blind man .... the pharisees told him that a " sinner " healed him .. but he responded ( paraphrasing ) " if he is a sinner i DO NOT KNOW .. I ONLY KNOW ONE THING ... I WAS BLIND BUT NOW I SEE . this shows that without previous knowledge of god the blind man became a follower . but is lack of knowledge of GOD an unlikely road to Christ ?. " .

The blind man was simply saying he doesn't know if the person who healed him is a sinner or not. He was saying nothing about how much he knows about God.

Let me answer your question this way: God is love, merciful, humble, peaceful, holy, and many other things. If we are hateful, vengeful, proud, violent, and unholy, there is no way we'll be getting close to God.

I want you to read Romans 1 slowly. It really explains it all. It explains how even pagans had to subdue their natural inclination to believe in God to follow their inventions. The chapter ends with a list of sins and condemns those who commit them, saying that they KNOW that those who do them are deserving of death.

Pretty scary stuff.
